Sky has added 20 linear channels that can be enjoyed live to its Sky Play 20 OTT platform. In this way, the Brazilian Satellite TV company owned by AT&T expands its TV Everywhere offer, which now totals 30 live channels accessible via streaming.
The new channels are A&E, Cartoon Network, Cinemax, CNN, Comedy Central, Discovery Channel, Discovery Turbo, Disney Channel, Espn, Fox, Fox Life, FX, ID, MTV, National Geographic, Sony, Space, TLC, TNT and TNT Series. It is obvious that if any of these channels is not included in a client’s Pay TV package, that channel will not be available on Sky Play.
Prior to this move, the ten channels included in the OTT platform were AXN, Band, Band News, Espn Brasil, Discovery Home & Health, Discovery Kids, HBO, Warner TV, Nickelodeon and Paramount Channel.
In Brazil, Sky had never had a TV Everywhere service allowing the user to access linear channels live on any device without any additional cost. This option began to be offered in February 2019 in a beta version and it was officially launched last April. It uses the Sky Play platform, which up to then had only free and PPV (Pay Per View) VOD content.
Sky’s TV Everywhere service is available only to post-paid subs, same as for the whole Sky Play platform. It is possible to enjoy the OTT service through the web site and the Minha Sky mobile app.
