According to information provided by Chilean digital newspaper El Mostrador, U.S. company ViacomCBS is about to close the acquisition of Chilean Free To Air channel Chilevisión. Negotiations with the channel’s owner, Turner (a company belonging to WarnerMedia, which in turn belongs to AT&T) have reached an “advanced” stage.
The digital newspaper has reported that the amount of the transaction is believed to be between USD 14 million and USD 20 million, which includes neither Turner’s building in Santiago de Chile nor sports network CDF (Canal del Fútbol), which holds rights to local soccer matches.
Another Chilean digital medium, El Filtrador, has confirmed that the transaction is approaching its close. “It is a fact,” asserted the website.
It is important to highlight that in Argentina ViacomCBS has owned Free To Air channel Telefé since 2016 and in Latin America it is the owner of Pay TV brands Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, MTV, VH1 and Paramount Network.
