Facebook has announced that in the next few weeks it will include the option to charge for livestream shows. “To support creators and small businesses, we plan to add the ability for pages to charge for access to events with live videos on Facebook,” according to information released by the company, which was founded by Mark Zuckerberg.
This new option opens up a new world in the audiovisual and entertainment industries. It will make it possible for musicians, comedians, actors and actresses to sell their shows online direct to consumers very easily.
In its release, Facebook did not provide any details about the geographical scope of this new feature. It is also unknown whether artists will be required to pay the company for using this service.
