Mercado Play, a free streaming platform operated by e-commerce giant Mercado Libre, has added a special version of NBCUniversal’s premium package, Universal+. According to information obtained by TAVI Latam, both companies are conducting tests prior to the execution of the agreement.
The above-mentioned version of Universal+ is available in all those Latin American countries where Mercado Libre’s streaming platform is active. It is a special version, since Universal+’s linear channels and content available in Mercado Play are not exactly the same as those included in the premium package available through Pay TV operators in the region.
In this way, Mercado Play is expanding its catalog with more linear channels. Born in mid-2023, the platform initially offered only VOD titles. Up to the addition of Univesal+, its only linear channel was CazéTV (owned by streamer Casimiro Miguel) in Brazil, which was added at the beginning of the current month.
