On November 20, Disney+, The Walt Disney Company’s streaming service, will livestream British artist Elton John’s final concert in the United States globally and exclusively. The event will mark Disney+’s live content debut in Latin America.
So far, The Walt Disney Company has livestreamed content in Latin America only on Star+, which regularly broadcasts sports competitions and sports shows and has occasionally aired award ceremonies and concerts. In the United States, Disney+ has had some experiences as far as livestreaming is concerned and it launched a live show for the first time in September 2022.
The concert will take place at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles and will include the performance of guest stars whose names have not been disclosed yet. Disney+’s livestreaming will last three hours, since the concert will be preceded by a show called Countdown to Elton Live.
The concert, from Disney Branded Television, will be called Elton John Live: Farewell from Dodger Stadium and will be produced by Fulwell 73 Productions and Rocket Entertainment. The Walt Disney Company has explained that the special will serve as a “prelude” to Disney+’ original documentary about the artist’s career, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road: The Final Elton John Performances and The Years that Made His Legend, which is scheduled to premiere in 2023.
