The Pirate Bay is testing a new system through which users can stream the content instead of downloading them. This torrent website is one of the most important pirate audiovisual content sites worldwide.
Over the past few days, The Pirate Bay has been adding a streaming button in some of its content. This button redirects users to an on-line player called BayStream, on which the chosen content can be viewed.
It is not the first time that this torrent site has tried to offer its users a streaming option. In 2011 it launched its own file-hosting platform called BayFiles (which disappeared after a raid in Sweden in 2014) and in 2016 it introduced a plug-in known as Torrents Time, which made it possible to play the content in the browser (although quality level was not the best).
