Brazil’s Globo is planning to add Globosat’s live and linear channels to its Globoplay streaming platform, according to local website Tudo Celular. The idea is to launch a new package, for which the user will have to pay an extra fee in addition to the classic Globoplay subscription.
Globosat (Globo’s Pay TV division) portfolio encompasses 18 basic channels: GNT, SporTV (three channels), Multishow, Mais Globosat, Bis, Viva, Off, Gloob, Gloobinho, Canal Brasil, Megapix, Globo News, Futura, Studio Universal, Universal TV and Syfy (in the last three cases Globosat does not do production work; it is engaged only in distribution tasks in Brazil). These channels are likely to be included in the new Globoplay package.
Tudo Celular has also revealed that Globo is considering Globoplay+ as the name of the new package and a monthly fee of around USD 8. The only plan Globoplay offers at the moment costs USD 4 per month.
