A few days after Telecom announced the appointment of its new CEO in Argentina, Telefónica de Argentina reported that it would follow suit. Federico Riva will be replaced by Marcelo Tarakdjian.
Rava has been serving as Chairman of the Board of Directors and will keep that position. Tarakdjian has been holding the position of CEO in the business in Uruguay for four years and has been working for the company for more than 20 years. He had previously served as Marketing Director in Argentina. The new CEO will take office on February 1st, 2020.
In Argentina, Telefónica operates under Movistar brand and provides fixed and mobile telephone services, Internet and Pay TV (an IPTV operation launched in late 2018 currently covering some neighborhoods of Buenos Aires City and Greater Buenos Aires), in addition to owning Movistar Play OTT platform (launched in early 2019).
