The Amazonian state-run channel (based in Manaus City) has ceased to repeat Sao Paulo TV Cultura TV station programming and has replaced it with federal state-run channel TV Brasil. As a result of this new strategy, the Amazonian channel is no longer known as TV Cultura, (its name since 1995) and is now called TV Encontro das Aguas.
The new channel, which has been broadcasting since last week, includes TV Brasil programs (currently seven hours and a half, with two more hours to be added soon) and content produced by its own staff.
It is worth mentioning that this agreement will enable the creation of co-productions by both stations, which means that “it will be possible for Amazonian local programs to be broadcast nationwide”, explained TV Encontro das Aguas President Osvaldo Lopes.
