Brazil Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) has reported that in July 2019 the number of Pay TV subscribers decreased to 16.5 million. Similar numbers can be found for January 2013, when the market was growing steadily. Within this period the number of subscribers peaked at 19.84 million in November 2014.
According to Anatel’s official numbers for July 2019, Brazil lost more than 1.3 million Pay TV subscribers (7.43%) over a period of twelve months, which marks the thirteenth consecutive month of decline. Satellite TV market share is 53%, Cable TV share is 42.7% and IPTV share is 4.2%.
América Móvil (through its brands Net and Claro) keeps the top position in the segment with 8.16 million users (49.3 %), followed by Sky (AT&T) with 4.97 million, Oi with 1.57 million and Telefónica (through its brand Vivo) with 1.43 million.
