Cinépolis Klic, a streaming platform owned by the operator of a Mexican movie theater chain (Cinépolis), was launched in Chile on May 7. The launch marks the start of the platform’s international expansion, after having operated in Mexico for seven years.
According to information provided by the company, the aim is to expand Cinépolis Klic into new markets in Latin America, though no specific details of the plan have been disclosed. Cinépolis operates in 17 countries worldwide and runs over 800 multiplexes, with more than 6,500 screens.
The OTT is commercialized through a TVOD model, which allows users to rent or buy movies, series or TV shows. “The content catalog in Chile includes movies produced by important studios such as Disney, Sony, Warner and Paramount,” noted Cinépolis executives in a press release.
Cinépolis Klic is accessible on its website or through the iOS and Android mobile application.
