John Stankey, CEO at telecommunications company AT&T, has revealed that CNN will soon offer its own streaming service. He unveiled the project last week at The Economic Club of Washington, D.C., a widely recognized forum. CNN is a news network owned by WarnerMedia, a division of AT&T bound to become Warner Bros. Discovery in the near future, as soon as regulatory agencies grant the pertinent authorization.
“There’s been some rumors in the media about us launching a direct-to-consumer, CNN Plus news product, that will in fact occur. We’ll keep pushing ahead with those things. So my view is we won’t be waiting, we’ll be executing,” asserted Stankey.
AT&T’s CEO did not provide any further details about this initiative, which is why it is still unknown whether the platform will be launched only in the United States or it will expand to other countries. According to information published by The Wall Street Journal some weeks ago, CNN streaming service is likely to launch in 2022.
