The Walt Disney Company keeps innovating on the brand of its subscription-based streaming platform. The company has recently announced the launch of Disney+ first Pay TV channel. The initiative is part of a broader agreement between Disney and European subscription TV operator Sky (owned by Comcast) for the U.K. and Irish markets.

The new channel, Disney+ Cinema, will offer only movies included in the OTT’s catalog. Although no definite date has been scheduled, it has been said that the release will take place in March 2026

According to information provided by Disney, Disney+ Cinema initial content will include nearly 50 movies belonging to category Pay-2 (second release window for platforms or pay TV channels following theatrical release, that is to say approximately twelve months after release on Disney+) or taken from previous catalogs. Among the titles offered, it is worth mentioning Deadpool and Wolverine, Alien: Romulus, and Iron Man. The initial list is expected to be updated with at least two movies every week.

The agreement between Disney and Sky will make it possible for Sky Cinema subscribers (a package above Pay TV basic tier) to have the new channel included in their lineup. In addition, the expanded agreement provides that customers who have subscribed to certain Sky Pay TV packages will have access to Disney’s streaming service at no additional cost.

This is the first appearance of Disney+’s channel in the world and no details have been disclosed about plans for the future. However, it is worth noting that, although the agreement applies to the United Kingdom and Ireland, Sky also operates in Italy, Germany, Switzerland and Austria and it is likewise important to mention that Comcast is one of the main Pay TV operators in the United States.
