According to information revealed to TAVI Latam by AMC Networks International, the audiovisual giant has paused the project to launch AMC+, a streaming platform featuring the best productions of the company, in Latin America. The original plan was to roll out both AMC+ and Shudder, another platform offering horror, suspense and supernatural fiction content, by the end of 2022. The date for the launch of Shudder has not been set either.
Inquiried by TAVI Latam, AMC spokespeople answered: “The launch of AMC+ in Latin America has been put on hold until further notice; any news in connection with the project will be made known.” The company has been offering a streaming service in the region called Acorn TV since 2018. Its catalog includes a selection of British TV shows.
Created in mid-2020, AMC+ is currently available in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, India and Spain, in which territories it has adopted the SVOD model (monthly subscription).
