On March 5, Pay TV operator DirecTV (Grupo Werthein) closed an agreement with sports streaming platform DAZN for FIFA Club World Cup 2025 broadcasting rights. The tournament will bring together the best soccer clubs on the planet. The agreement will make it possible for DirecTV to air all the matches live in Spanish-speaking South America. The news was first reported by news agency Reuters, after which TAVI Latam could confirm it with DirecTV spokespeople.
DirecTV has been granted the rights to air the tournament by DAZN, which is the official global broadcaster of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025, as a result of an agreement with FIFA entered into in December 2024. According to information obtained by TAVI Latam, the new agreement confers DirecTV all broadcasting rights in the region. In this way, the Pay TV operator will not only air the games but it will be also entitled to sublicense the rights to other channels and platforms in Spanish-speaking South America.
The FIFA Club World Cup will be the first edition of the tournament after the introduction of the new format. It will feature 32 teams from all over the globe and is scheduled to be held in June and July 2025 in the United States. The Latin American clubs taking part in the competition are: Flamengo (Brazil), Palmeiras (Brazil), Boca Juniors (Argentina), Pachuca (Mexico), Botafogo (Brazil), Fluminense (Brazil), Monterrey (Mexico), River Plate (Argentina) and León (Mexico).
