At a press event that took place on June 28, Mexican audiovisual company TV Azteca announced the overhauling of its Pay TV package, including the launch of a new sports channel to be called Azteca Deportes Network.
In addition to the introduction of a new channel, there are some other innovations. Azteca Mundo will become Azteca Internacional and some channels and platforms owned by other companies will be added to the distribution catalog of TV Azteca’s Pay TV division. The content provided by other companies includes: Anime Onegai, Corazón Grupero, Teleritmo, Canal 6 of Multimedios, Milenio Televisión and AYM Sports. The above-mentioned options are added to TV Azteca’s own channels −Azteca Internacional, Clic, Cinema, Corazón and ADN 40−, as well as to the company’s Free-To-Air channels.
According to the description provided by TV Azteca, the new sports channel will offer “wide coverage of domestic and international tournaments”. There will be soccer (men’s and women’s), basketball, American football, kickboxing, boxing and wrestling.
