During an Upfront hosted by TelevisaUnivision on October 23, the audiovisual company annoounced that it would broadcast FIFA Club World Cup in the Mexican territory. The new international soccer tournament organized by FIFA (International Federation of Association Football) is to be held in 2025 for the first time. TelevisaUnivision is the first media company in Latin America to announce that it has been granted broadcasting rights for the above-mentioned tournament. The invitation to tender had been launched by FIFA in July 2024.

TelevisaUnivision has not offered any further details so far. It is still unknown whether the company will air all the matches live or not. Nor has it been revealed whether the option chosen is Free-To-Air TV, Pay TV, free streaming, paid streaming or a hybrid combining the options already mentioned. When TAVI Latam contacted the company’s press team, they answered that they could not offer any more information for the time being.

The new Club World Cup has been designed to be played every four years. The first tournament is scheduled to be held between June and July 2025 in the United States. It will assemble 32 of the best soccer teams on the planet. The clubs listed below have already qualified: Real Madrid (Spain), Bayern Munich (Germany), Inter Milan (Italy), Chelsea (England), Manchester City (England), Paris Saint-Germain (France), Borussia Dortmund (Germany), Porto (Portugal), Benfica (Portugal), Atlético Madrid (Spain), Juventus (Italy), Red Bull Salzburgo (Austria), Flamengo (Brazil), Palmeiras (Brazil), Boca Juniors (Argentina), Fluminense (Brazil), River Plate (Argentina), Monterrey (Mexico), Seattle Sounders (United States), León (Mexico), Pachuca (Mexico), Inter Miami (United States), Al-Ahly (Egypt), Wydad Casablanca (Morocco), Esperance de Tunis (Tunisia), Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa), Al-Hilal (Saudi Arabia), Urawa Red Diamonds (Japan), Al-Ain (United Arab Emirates), Ulsan Hyundai (South Korea) and Auckland City (Australia).
