After having acquired Pay TV broadcast rights for Uruguay’s soccer championship through a tender process held in December 2025, DirecTV (Waiken ILW, Grupo Werthein) designed a premium pack to air the tournament live. Called DSports Uruguay Premium, the plan has already been made available to DirecTV’s Satellite TV customers, who can sign up for UYU 728 (approximately USD 18.7) per month. At the same time, DirecTV is engaged in negotiations in order that other subscription TV operators may offer the newly created pack to their own customers.
The new channel, launching on January 10, will air the match between Juventud and Wanderers live. The game is included in the new Copa de la Liga AUF, a tournament in which all first division teams will take part that will act as a warm-up for the regular championship, which is to kick off next February. After the channel’s debut on January 10, the following seven games will be: Defensor Sporting vs. Progreso (January 11), Boston River vs. Danubio (January 12), Peñarol vs. Central Español (January 12), Liverpool vs. Albion (January 13), Nacional vs. Deportivo Maldonado (January 13), Montevideo City Torque vs. Cerro Largo (January 14) and Racing vs. Cerro (January 14).
According to the Uruguayan press, several Pay TV operators have already reached agreements with DirecTV in order to be allowed to include domestic soccer in their offerings. Among them, it is worth mentioning Flow (Telecom Argentina) and Cableplus.
It is important to highlight that the license obtained by DirecTV is valid only for traditional Pay TV, since streaming rights are held by Tenfield, a company that has not revealed yet how it will broadcast and commercialize Uruguayan soccer. Anyway, the initial tournament, Copa de la Liga AUF, will be available only on traditional Pay TV.
