SimpleTV (Scale Capital) has broadened its telecommunications services portfolio. On April 12, the Venezuelan Satellite TV operator presented its fiber to the home (FTTH) fixed Internet service, SimpleFibra, on its web portal. The company has not provided any information about the coverage area or the estimated date when set up in the homes will start.

In January 2024, Federico Oguich, an executive at Scale Capital, told Chilean newspaper Diario Financiero that SimpleTV was building a fiber optic network in Venezuela in order to be able to offer its own fixed Internet service. Given that no official communication has been issued so far, it is unknown whehter the company will use its own infrastructure or a third party’s network to provide the new Internet service at an early stage.

The slogan used by promote the new service describes it as follows: “SimpleFibra is the Internet service that will simplify your life. Unlimited connection, with symetrical upload and download speed.”

Like the company’s Satellite TV service, SimpleFibra will be a prepaid service. At the beginning it will offer four speed options: 50 Mbps, 100 Mbps, 200 Mbps and 500 Mbps. There will be reload packs only for the Internet service, as well as in combination with streaming platform SimplePlus. It is not necessary to be a Satellite TV user to sign up to one of the packs listed above. In this way, SimplePlus will go beyond having a single function as TV Everywhere (an additional benefit at no additional cost for Satellite TV users), as it will be used as an OTT paid TV service as well.
