On September 15, Spanish language streaming service Vix, owned by TelevisaUnivision, announced the launch of Vix Música, a music section focused on Latin music that will offer live concerts, festivals and award shows, as well as exclusive interviews with artists, original documentaries, podcasts and series. The new hub is available in Mexico, as well as in the US Hispanic market.
The type of content that will attract more viewers is live music, a segment several Pay TV operators and OTTs in Latin America have been placing their bets on lately, as is the case with Flow, Disney+, DirecTV, Globoplay and Telecentro.
The main upcoming events are: Yuridia en concierto (September 20), BMF Fest (September 21), Premios Juventud (September 25), Global Citizen Festival (September 27), Fuerza Regida en concierto (October 4), iHeartRadio Fiesta Latina (October 25) and Latin Grammy (November 13).
“Latin music is mainstream today and we need to follow that mainstream consumer everywhere they are. The launch of Vix Música will allow our music content to be seamlessly distributed across our ecosystem, providing audiences with an always-on music experience,” asserted Ignacio Meyer, President of Univision Networks Group. “The launch of Vix Música shows our commitment to the Hispanic audience, expanding our offering to create a one-of-a-kind destination that celebrates the impact and influence of Latin music,” remarked Rafael Urbina, President of Streaming and Digital at TelevisaUnivision.
