Paramount (Skydance) has made a drastic decision in Latin America, which has been unofficially confirmed by TAVI Latam with company sources. The audiovisual giant has decided to withdraw from the Brazilian Pay TV market by the end of 2025, since all the channels currently owned by the company in Brazil will be shut down. At the same time, Paramount will reduce its subscription-based TV channel portfolio in Spanish-speaking Latin America.
The news became publicly known as Paramount began to notify its Brazilian Pay TV operators of the resolution. The first to report it was specialized website Na Telinha. Then TAVI Latam inquired Paramount sources, which not only corroborated the withdrawal of the company from Brazil but also revealed the news about the reduction in Spanish-speaking Latin America.
Within the Brazilian market, the company currently offers Paramount Network, Nickelodeon, Nick Jr, Comedy Central and other channels under the MTV brand umbrela, all of which will disappear as linear channels. In Brazil, Paramount will go on providing its paid streaming service Paramount+ and its OTT FAST Pluto TV.
As regards the situation in Spanish-speaking Latin America, the company will continue its Pay TV business for the time being, though it will reduce its catalog. It is still unknown which channels will remain in operation and which ones will be discontinued.
