In a showcase made at CES (Customer Electronics Show), an event held in Las Vegas, USA, from January 5 thru January 9, The Walt Disney Company announced that its streaming platform Disney+ will offer vertical content in the near future. The decision allows Disney+ to stand out from the rest of streaming giants competing in the market on a global scale.
The vertical content that will be available on Disney+ will be related to news, sports and entertainment. According to the presentation made by the company’s spokespeople at CES, the aim is “to turn the OTT into a must-visit daily destination and to explore its use in a variety of ways across categories and content types, for a personalized and dynamic feed.”
In the United States, Disney has been lately working with a vertical format version in its sports Espn app, which was described as a very useful experience at the time of designing the vertical content strategy for Disney+. The announcement made at CES did not reveal whether the new content will be exclusive to the US market or it will be available worldwide.
