On May 26, Argentine Pay TV operator Personal Flow (Telecom Argentina) announced an agreement with its competitor DirecTV (Grupo Werthein) for the purpose of adding DSports channels, owned by the latter, to the lineup of sports channels offered by the former. The agreement has already come into force. In fact, Flow Argentina began carrying DSports on May 27. Although the deal is closely related to the World Cup, which kicks off on June 11, and DSports is the only network that will air all 104 matches, the two companies have entered into a multi-year agreement. That is the reason why other sports events regularly aired by DSports will also be available to Flow users.

This is a headline-grabbing agreement, given that it will significantly broaden access to all the matches included in the most widely watched event in the world. Flow and DirecTV, the main Pay TV operators in Argentina, together account for nearly three quarters of the market.

DSports can be found on Flow channel 109 and DSports 2 on Flow channel 110. Both are available through Flow traditional service (set-top-box), as well as on its streaming platform.

As the agreement goes beyond the World Cup, it will be possible for Flow users to view several tournaments over the next few years. Among them, it is worth mentioning Copa Sudamericana (second most important soccer club competition in South America), Copa América (soccer competition among South American national teams), FIFA Club World Cup and Spain’s soccer league.

“At Personal we keep on enhancing the entertainment proposal offered by Flow by means of strategic alliances that make it possible for us to offer a more and more relevant experience to our customers. Sports, soccer in particular, play a key role in consumption habits, which is why we are enriching our catalog with live content and high-profile competitions,” asserted Gonzalo Hita, Chief Operating Officer at Personal.

The partnership between DirecTV and Personal Flow in Argentina allows DSports to go ahead in its bet to broaden its scope. DSports has recently entered into distribution agreements with four Uruguayan Pay TV operators: Nuevo Siglo, TCC, Montecable and Flow. In addition, it has been available on pay streaming platforms such as Paramount+ and Amazon Prime Video (Channels section), as well as on the main Venezuelan Pay TV services for several years (in Venezuela, DirecTV does not offer subscription-based TV service).
