Brazilian telecommunications operator TIM launched its new streaming platform a few days ago. Under the name of TIM Play, the OTT offers plans with Free-To-Air and Pay TV channels, packs with premium Pay TV channels, as well as the possibility of signing up to other streaming services and renting movies. Although the service is already available, TIM has not begun to advertise it yet.
The move marks TIM’s full entry into the Pay TV segment, for the operator had never provided this kind of service on its own before, either in the traditional way (cable TV, IPTV or satellite TV), or via streaming. So far the company’s audiovisual entertainment offer was limited to the commercialization of subscription to various OTT platforms. TIM once entered into a partnership to sell subscription TV operator TV Alphaville’s service and it also had its own streaming player, but it had never offered a Pay TV service of its own.
The company in charge of the development of TIM Play is Mileto, according to information provided to TAVI Latam by Mileto’s spokespeople. The company, which has been the owner of Satellite TV provider Oi since 2025, revealed to TAVI Latam two months ago that it was working on a new streaming platform.
TIM Play offers three plans. The first one includes only on-demand content; the second one adds Free-To-Air channels and the third one also includes Pay TV channels. The monthly cost of the third one is BRL 89.9 (about USD 17.2). In addition, it sells Pay TV premium channels packages, such as Telecine and Premiere. The OTT services it offers are Netflix, HBO Max, Disney+, Paramount+, Globoplay, Deezer (audio) and YouTube Premium. Finally, prices for movie rentals range from BRL 14.9 (about USD 2.8) to BRL 19.9 (USD 3.8).
According to the description given by the company, “It is a complete entertainment platform for TIM customers.” It is available to mobile subscribers with postpaid plans. The service is accessible via web or through the app for movile devices IOS and Android, as well as LG, Samsung and Android TV smart TVs.
