Sports OTT DAZN will enter the Spanish-speaking Latin American market (it is already present in Portuguese-speaking Brazil). Its new programming of boxing fights, with commentaries in English, will debut on May 2 with an event in which Mexican Saúl Álvarez, nicknamed Canelo, will star. This launch is actually part of a global expansion of the platform, which will become available in more than 200 territories worldwide.
This programming is based on the contracts that DAZN has recently signed with top boxing promotional companies, including Golden Boy Promotions, Matchroom Boxing USA and GGG Promotions.
“Most of the world will have access to DAZN and its unmatched schedule of boxing events,” asserted DAZN Group Executive Chairman John Skipper. “Our roster of championship fighters represents some of the world’s most popular athletes and we’ll be working with them to stage spectacular international events for years to come,” he added. In an advertising announcement, DAZN says it will be “the new global home of fight sports”.
DAZN is currently available in Brazil, Spain, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Canada, Italy, the United States and Japan. The content vary according to the territory. In the Brazilian market it offers many soccer tournaments, including Copa Sudamericana, the local Serie C, the Paranaense Championship and the first division leagues of Italy, France, Turkey and England, as well as basketball, tennis and combat sports competitions.
