Argentine telecommunications operator Telecentro has launched a new set-top-box for its Pay TV service, whose main appeal is that Amazon’s Alexa voice-controlled virtual assistant is built into it. Called T1, the device makes it possible to view content in 4K quality and uses WiFi 6 technology, as well as Bang & Olufsen baffles and Dolby Atmos audio technology, which create 360-degree surround sound. In addition, the device offers features such as pausing and rewinding live TV, viewing on demand content and at the same time it allows access to the main streaming platforms, including Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, Star+ and YouTube.
Totalplay, a Mexican company, launched a similar STB in mid-2021. Both operators use devices manufactured by Sagemcom.
T1 is already available to the company’s double play (Internet + Pay TV) and triple play (Internet + Pay TV + fixed phone service) users, both to new subscribers (150 Mbps plans and up) and existing ones (60 Mbps plans and up). This is how the Argentine operator advertises its new product: “Telecentro with Alexa has come to revolutionize home entertainment.”
