New Pay TV channel CNBC Brasil announced on September 16 that it would go on the air in November. The news had been revealed by some Brazilian media outlets a few weeks before but it had not been officially confirmed by the company. According to information obtained by TAVI Latam, the launch event is scheduled for November 1.

The arrival in Brazil of the US business and finance channel, owned by NBCUniversal (Comcast), was announced in March 2024. The person in charge of the project is Douglas Tavolaro, a Brazilian reporter and businessman who played a leading role in the launch of CNN Brasil in 2020. After selling his stake in CNN Brasil in 2021, Tavolaro made a similar deal with CNBC. In fact, it is a brand sublicensing agreement in favor of a new company, Times Brasil CNBC; NBCUniversal is not the owner of the new Brazilian channel.

CNBC Brasil will offer over 15 hours of live content daily. Not only will it be available as a Pay TV channel but also on streaming platforms and social media. “We want to make our content accessible to as many Brazilian households as possible. We expect the channel’s programming and our differentiated journalism to win over the audience,” said CNBC Distribution Vice President Carolina Vargas.

According to a news release issued by Times Brasil CNBC, “The channel licensed to operate under the most important business journalism brand in the world is now on the final stretch of the set up process in Brazil. The building of CNBC Brasil’s headquarters, studios, newsrooms and offices has entered its final stage. Broadcasting equipment and technology imported from the United States and China have already arrived. The channel will have a state-of-the-art technical park, among the most innovative in Brazil, in a very modern building located in an area of Sao Paulo considered to be the financial center of the country: Berrini-Faria Lima.”

Among the talents starring in the new channel, it is worth mentioning the following: Natalia Ariede (formerly Globo), Christiane Pelajo (formerly Globo), Fabio Turci (formerly Globo), Marcelo Torres (formerly SBT) and Camila Farani (formerly Sony Channel).
