In a document submitted to the Brazilian Securities and Exchange Commission (CVM) last week, it was informed that Satellite TV (DTH) operator Sky (Vrio, Grupo Werthein) had decided to cancel the agreement to acquire the postpaid customer base of Oi’s DTH service. The deal had been announced in April 2022.

The justification given by Sky was that “no viable terms have been agreed upon for the renegotiation of the transaction.” According to Oi spokespeople, the cancellation is Sky’s unilateral decision, it does not abide by the terms agreed upon and Oi will seek redress for the damage caused by the decision. In addition to the sale of the DTH’S postpaid customer base, the original agreement included mutual cooperation between the two companies for the provision of Oi’s IPTV service.

The sale of this business was part of the first judicial reorganization process undertaken by Oi several years ago. The company is currently engaged in its second judicial reorganization process.
