On June 1, Apple TV and Apple TV+ were made available on Android TV devices worldwide, as has been confirmed to website 9to5Google by Google, the owner of Android TV operating system. Up to now, the only devices running Android TV that enabled access to Apple apps were Chromecast with Google TV and some Sony smart TVs.
Google told the website that all devices running Android TV 8.0 or a higher version are included. In this way, many smart TVs and streaming players based on Google’s operating system can now access the apps.
Apple TV app works much in the same way as Apple TV STB does, for it makes audiovisual content streaming easier, in addition to offering the possibility of buying or renting movies and TV shows, as well as signing up to several OTT platforms, with payment being made from a single account. The OTT services on offer obviously include Apple TV+, launched worldwide by the company in late 2019, which focuses on original productions.
