Communication media company Disney will no longer run OTT platform Netflix commercials on its entertainment channels in the United States, as was reported by The Wall Street Journal. According to this newspaper, advertising on TV channels accounted for 38% of Netflix advertising expense in 2018.

The decision is made a few days before the release of Disney+, Disney’s own OTT service, scheduled for next November, for which the monthly subscription fee will be USD 6.99.

The U.S. press has reported that ABC, FX, Freeform and National Geographic are among the channels included in this decision. However, sports network ESPN may keep running Netflix ads because this OTT platform does not broadcast sports content live.
