WarnerMedia (AT&T) has set up a new label called Warner Max, which will be “the film production arm” for the new HBO Max streaming service that will be released in the United States in May this year (the release date in Latin America has not been confirmed yet). Warner Bros. Pictures Group and HBO Max teams will work together in the new unit.
“This joint venture will ensure that the new platform has a steady stream of high-quality original films”, according to the press release issued by the company. Warner Max will have an initial production target of eight to ten movies per year.
The first Warner Max titles will premiere on HBO Max in 2020, and Warner Bros. will be responsible for distribution of this content in all other media and territories beyond the HBO Max window.
