Last week, Uruguayan Pay TV operator Multiseñal launched an OTT Pay TV service that has been called MSPlay Box, which is offered as an alternative to MMDS, a service historically provided by the company.
The price range for MSPlay Box starts at USD 22 per month. In order to enhance user experience, Multiseñal is also offering a self-installable streaming player, which is delivered on loan to the user. The new service allows the simultaneous use of up to three devices, including the streaming player.
The company advertises the service as “a new way of watching television, without aerials or wires”. MSPlay Box is based on MSPlay, the TV Everywhere service the company has been providing for a long time.
According to the latest report issued by Uruguay’s Communication Services Regulating Agency (Ursec), the number of Multiseñal subscribers totalled 10,000 as at the end of 2022. The operator, regarded as a pioneer in the Uruguayan Pay TV market, is owned by Uruguayan Free-To-Air channels Canal 4 (Monte Carlo TV), Canal 10 (Saeta) and Canal 12 (Teledoce), which are also the owners of Cable TV operators Montecable, TCC and Nuevo Siglo, respectively.
