Netflix will surpass 15 million users in Brazil during the first quarter of 2020, according to Brazilian website Na Telinha, which noted that the information had been exclusively revealed by “a Netflix Brasil executive”. The figure is approaching the total number of Pay TV subscribers in Brazil, which was 15.8 million as of the end of 2019, according to Anatel (Brazilian regulatory agency).
It is important to highlight that the company’s financial statement do not state the number of subscribers in each country, but the number in each region. As of the end of 4Q 2019, the OTT platform had 31.4 million customers in Latin America.
Na Telinha has also reported that research conducted by Netflix shows that the service reaches 50 million Brazilians, given that the accounts allow the use of several screens at the same time and taking into account the habit of password sharing.
Last year a specialized medium managed to get information about the number of Netflix subs for the first time. It was UOL, which revealed that the OTT platform had more than 10 million users by April 2019.
