On March 6, Sony Music Entertainment, a Sony Entertainment division, issued a press release announcing a partnership with Lionel Messi for the production of the Argentine soccer player’s first own animated series. The agreement was entered into between the Japanese company and Leo Messi Management, a company owned by the Argentine star that proposed the original idea behind the project.
According to the description given by Sony Music, “The series will depict Messi as a child as he confronts obstacles while traveling throughout a video game.” Designed to be distributed throughout the world, the production will be available in English, Spanish and several other languages. The target audience comprises children and young teenagers.
